Hello all,

I have acquired a new customer that has a BCM450. They have a remote office that has a BCM50. They would like to be able to intercom\transfer calls between the 2 sites.

What is going to be the best way and most cost effective way to network these 2 systems together?

I am new to Nortel BCM but have a background with Avaya IPO, NEC DSX, Iwatsu and Panasonic. I have recently started to take over a lot of our local Telco's Norstar and BCM equipment since they announced that no longer will be maintaining telephone systems.

If they have a data network you can pull from then you could do this with IP Trunks between the 2.

Thanks hawks! Is their any documentation you can direct me too that could help me in setting that up?

I'm sure you could google info on what your trying to achieve or maybe even check FAQ's on this site as this has been discussed many times before. I can tell you if your knowledge on BCM's is limited your not going to be able to wing this by yourself. The basics to get started on right now yourself are do you have the proper keycodes installed for both systems? What are the software versions of the BCM's? Is there a VPN in place between these sites?

Thanks Jeremy. I've google'd it but their is no solid responses. The answers are all over the place, hence why I posted the question on the forum. What keycodes would be necessary to activate this feature? By mentioning VPN , I assume that is the preferred way (only way?) of connecting the 2 sites with IP trunks? Does the BCM50e have VPN capabilities built in?

Look in the BCM's doc page - browser using the ip address for bcm network configuration guide. You will need the IC's to be different at the 2 sites IP trunk keycodes for each path between the 2 BCM's, MCDN keycode on each unit if you want to see CLID between the 2.

Forgot need to set up target lines at each site and assign to each set this is how the calls reach the phones from one site to another and program routes and destination codes ,each set needs access to the pool the route is using.
