I am extremely new to Novell and I need to know how to set up a user account in Netware 5.00d. Remeber, I am new to Novell, so explain as though I was a child.
Thanks
This is easy but challenging for you. First off you need to make sure that you are logged into the network as an adminsitrator. Secondly, you need to run NWADMIN (Netware Administrator) Once you have this up and running, you should be able to see the NDS tree and all the objects in it. Once to this point, you need to select the proper container that this user needs to go in, press the insert key and select user and then just go through the tabs and when complete press ok. Now creating the user is one piece of the pie, you still need to grant the user access to his/hers directories on the network. So if you have groups created in the tree that grant appropriate access, just add them to those groups, if you need to manually add rights, well, you better grab an admin and have them explain it. Its not difficult to understand, but you really need to grat rights correctly, which means you only want the user to be able to access those directories they are authorized to, and not see ones they do not have rights to.
Hope this helps...or at least gets you started.
I highly recommend you take the Admin and Advanced Admin courses from Novell. They will help you in understanding how to setup accounts, manage NDS and understand all the features of Directory Services etc.
