NetWare Queues vs. IP Printers

Getting prepped for an XPa installation at a NetWare 5.1 site. We will have Zen, dynamic local user, etc and plan to use all published apps. The network printers are all currently NetWare queues (not NDPS). Is it better to let them print to existing NetWare queues or set up the printers as IP-based printers off the XP servers? If using queues, it that considered client or server printers?

Also is there an easy or best way to prevent the creation of client printers for people connecting from the LAN, but allow it for those connected from the outside/Internet?

Finally, I've read different views on allowing auto printer creation. I would love to get real user/administrator feedback on this.

I like to configure the main printers that everyone uses directly on the Citrix server(s), so they can be easily seen. You can do this via another W2K print server, but in your case, I'd recommend setting up the Citrix box as a print server and going directly to the printers. If you connect to a Novell print queue, you have another set of print processing the job has to go through, and an increased liklihood of a problem.

I also like to set the Client Settings in "Citrix Connection Configuration" to "By default, connect only the client's main printer". This way people can print to a personal printer if they have one, and the server isn't trying to manage multiple printers for multiple users.

hope this helps,
-gbiello
