I would like to create a log history of DHCP leases from my Netware 6.5 DHCP server. I know you can export the DHCP database from the DNS/DHCP Console manually, but was wondering if there is a file stored that I could copy, and thus automatically back it up on a daily basis, that would provide this information to me for historical/forensical purposes. Short of manually assigning IP addresses in DHCP (MAC, user, etc.) or on the workstations, how can I be sure an IP address is indeed the machine I think it is when I see activity associated with it on the network or firewall when looking at historical logs?

Brent,

I am not sure what you are pointing me to. Clicking on your link directs me to the Novell Online Documentation for Starting up DHCP server. Where is there information about capturing a log of IP address assignments from the DHCP Database? Please provide more detail. I have DHCP configured and running. I am looking to collect and archive historical information about who had an IP address on a given day or lease.

There's a link on the page Provogeek provided that shows you the startup options. One of them will accomplish what you want.
