I’ve got Novell 4 network and just installed Win2000 server. All machines are Win98 and have Novell client installed. I’ve got SQL server running on Win2000 server and need to map my database as a drive to some users. I presume that these users have to login onto Win2000 server as well as onto Novell. What is the best way to do it? Is it possible to do it with Novell login script (Novell server is not aware of Win2000 server)? Any help is very welcome.
I have tried to use NET USE: “#NET USE T: \\SERVER\SHARE” but when I login it gives me errors that server is unkown.

Hi, GlobalBrain

I think the problem is you have the Novell login as the primary login and so when the login script gets processed the workstation is not yet logged into the Win2K domain, so the server is as yet unknown.

I am assuming you are able to map drives under Win98 to the Win2K server once the login process has ended.

If that is the case why not just map the drive under Win 98 and tick the 'connect at login' box so it will reconnect automatically in the future?

Best regards
Jock

If your database is SQL, can't you just create a data source on your workstations and connect to the database that way instead of having to map drives to the server? -----------------------------------------------------

Thanks for your replays. I’ve got problem with both your suggestions, sorry. I haven’t mentioned but my users do move around and I’ve found that Win98 drive mapping is not very reliable, but I’ll give it a try. And second is that this particular database design require drive mapping, I wish there was another way. Thanks again.
