Hi:

I have just received a Windows Xp Professional workstation and I installed netware client v4.9. I can not login to my Netware 4.11 servers with this client, but if I install Client Services for Netware, there is no problem.

Does version 4.9 of the client work with Netware 4.11?

Thank you very much,

Gerardo.

When you did the install of the 4.9 client, did you make sure you chose to use IPX?

4.11 only uses IPX for NCP packets.

I currently authenicate to a Netware 4.11 box with the new 4.9 client for NT/XP/2k.

Here is what I have:

XP Pro
Dell Inspiron 2600
Novell Netware 4.11 sp9a
Novell Client 4.9

When I installed the client I did a custom installation using the following opions:

NDPS
IP and IPX
It was pretty straight forward If you need assistance please do not hesitate to let me know.

Just do a uninstall and reinstall using only ipx

works everywhere..

I downloaded Client32 4.9 update "B" from both US download sites. Neither self-extracting EXE's (49pkb.exe) extract any files anywhere locally after typing "Y" after the Terms and Conditions text.

Also did a search for the file "_49pkb.INF" that it is supposed to be one of the files extracted, but I get file not found.

You have to go to a DOS prompt, then run the EXE file. Otherwise it won't work. Yeah, it's goofy but people that have worked with Novell for a while are used to it.
