When backing up a netware server via Backup Exec 8.5 fot NT using NetWare agent part way through we get Unable to attach to item, no pattern to this different volumes and even different servers, Veritas have no idea Has anyone out there?
I had the same problem. But only the NDS element was affected.
1. delete the "servername SMS RPC" objects via nw-admin
2. delete the "SMS SMDR Group" object via nw-admin
3. run bestop.ncf
4. on the server console unload "tsa500", "tsands", "smdr"
5. run a "dsrepair" (unattended full) on EVERY server
6. unload "ds" (be careful ! best time is when no or few users are logged in.)
7. take care of the replication status of all servers
8. create a new user with admin-rights
9. run "smdr new" and use the new created user. You have to do this on every server that has to be backed up.
10. on the server console load, "tsa500", "tsands" ("smdr" is automatically loaded after successful configuration)
11. run "bestart" on the server console.
