I was reading the documentation for Netware 4.11 and saw a comment about a Netware Administrators Graphical interface for a workstation. After looking around the office, I can't find any workstation that has such a thing and I'm trying to figure out if this is something which is downloadable and what the download might be called. I'm hoping this thing will make admining this server a little bit easier to understand.

Anyone ever hear of this thing or know where I might find information on it?

Thanks!

Oh! In the meantime, anyone know how I can, on the server, knock off people's connections other then using the Del key on the Job Connections screen? All the workstations just lost connections and the server froze when I tried to clear the connections that way.

Thanks. Catadmin - New to Server Admin, but willing to learn... All help is appreciated.

You already have it!!!!

Look in the following location on your Server...

SYS:\PUBLIC\WIN32\NWADMN32.EXE

Go ahead and run it right from the Server!

Good Luck!

Okay. Found the tool, but when I try and run it, it tells me that SYS:\Public\Win32\OWL501F.DLL is corrupt. So, here I am off to the Novell page to see if there is a patch for that error or if I can find that particular DLL file to replace it with.

...I do so wish my predecessor had kept the software and manuals around...

Thanks for your help, though! I never would have known to look there without you. @=)

Wow. This is just not my day. @=Pbt.

When I tried to update the NWAdmn32.exe in the sys:\public\win32 folders, it wouldn't let me have access because the password I use on my workstation is not the admin password. When I tried to use "admin" as a login, and the password which is used when logging in the server, it told me that account had expired. I even went into MSDOS, got to the F: drive (which is the main drive as my workstation sees it) and tried to change over to the public folder, which it wouldn't let me. Also tried to login there instead of the client and got the same "expired" message. Now I'm stuck.

Is there a way to go into the server-side and create an admin account (or recreate this expired one)? Or am I pretty much SOL?

Any help on this would be appreciate it. Catadmin - New to Server Admin, but willing to learn... All help is appreciated.

Oh dear?? Did the other person leave an admin-equivalent account behind? -----------------------------------------------------

I thought it was the one which my predecessor gave me, but that doesn't appear to be it. The only administrative password I'm sure I have access to is the one used to log on to the actual server (at the server) when it is rebooted(The ".username.tree" login). I'm not even sure where else to look to find the names of all the user objects on the server.

Ah, well. If tech work was meant to be easy, no one would get paid the big bucks for it. @=/

Are you logging into your workstation with the same username/password that allows you to access the server console? This account may allow you to change the properties of the ADMIN user using NWAdmin?? -----------------------------------------------------

I'm so happy! @=)

Tried the admin login this morning and it worked. I think I must have either mispelled something or forgot the leading ".", which is why it wouldn't let me use the password. Then I used the admn519f.exe update for nwadmn32 to update in the public folder, but it created another subfolder. When I went into the subfolders, there was the interface, ready to use.

So now I'm up and running with the graphical interface and should be able to do something besides down and boot the server. @=) Thanks to you both for your help!!!
