Netware 6 CNE VS Netware 7???

Knowing that Novell is working on the next release of Netware, version 7 which is in its infant stages from what I have read. I have been pondering wether or not to get my update to CNE 6 or wait for 7 to come around and just make a jump from 5??

Thoughts? Comments? Is there really that much of a difference in 6 from 5 that I should update my CNE? Seems like I just completed the 5 update when 6 came out..

I would have to say it's worth it. I got an e-mail from my local rep and right now Novell is having a special on Master certs. If NW5 CNE's pass the NE6 Update and the CompTIA IT+ cert you get your Master CNE. Saves you on the other tests you normaly would have to take (I think the new schedule had two additional tests). Will they let you jump from 5 to 7?

I dont see any reason why they wouldn't, they have put in tracks to allow people to go from 3X to 5 and 4X to 6 etc.., Mark C. Greenwood, CNE

Netware 6 has many new features that Neware 5 doesn't have. They are definitely worth learning. Server Management has changed significantly.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with this or not but I have checked and I am a CNE on Netware 5 and on novell's site it is posted that to retain your CNE you will need to upgrade to Netware 6 by October 31, 2003. So if the Netware 7 track isn't out soon you may want to just go ahead and get your 6 and then upgrade when it does come around.
