I have a Netware 5 environment and need faster backups/restores. I have been using a DLT 40/80 drive for the last 2 years but backups are now taking 14+hours!!

Have purchased an LTO internal 215 drive but cant write to the device!

IBM X235 server.
Have tried an external LTO 230e drive - same problem.
Thes are attached to a Ultra320 raid controller/card.
Using Arcserve 7 for netware - get (Media Write Error), have tried Backup exec v 9 wont load drivers.

Does anyopne know how to get an LTO device working on a netware server??

I need this server live by the end of the week, would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Barry

I agree. A RAID card is for that purpose alone and you risk problems with your array by connecting the tape drive to it. Your choices are:

a) Attach the tape drive to the servers internal SCSI bus

b) Purchase a RAID PCI card, something like an Adaptec 29160 and attach the drive to that

Thanks to you both for your help, i have added an Adaptec card and this works very well,

thanks again.
