Hi all

We are about to migrate from Novell NetWare 5.1 (eDirectory 8.73) to Windows 2003. We have an existing Windows 2000 Active Directory with Exchange 2000 which we have adpreped (forest and domain) for Windows 2003 successfully.

We have a test LAN setup that is a cut down of our current set up i.e. not as many users and not as musch data

The problem we have is that when we use the MSDSS utilities supplied by Microsoft in the the test LAN and migrate the users from NetWare NDS to Windows 2003 AD we end up with a duplicate set of names i.e one set from NetWare plus the existing set in the AD. They don't appear as duplicates however the ones migrated from Novell are appearing as the NDS login name where as we already have full usernames for Exchange in the Active Directory (e.g. my Novell login name is PaulH and my Active Directory name is Paul Hay my user login name pre-Windows 2000 is PaulH).

Is there anyway of syncing the migration to use the Novell NetWare NDS name and the Active Directory User Login name pre Windows 2000 (this is how we are currently setup to allow login to both systems - the NDS login name and the pre Windows 2000 user login name are the same)?

Any help would be appreciated as we have 600 + users to migrate org wide and we don't fancy fixing individual accounts manually for rights etc.

Thanks in advance

Paul Hay

you are experiening the same issue of "no merging" as exact as my last cusotmer at a big hospital.

what we finally get everything done is involving Quest NDS migrator 4.0(new release) which did a fantasic job by smartly detect and match all the AD account, permission and NDS.

I will suggest you to contact Quest for a quota, for 600user, i guess 6kUSD in total.

We tried MSDSS and FMU, u get for what u paid. lol.
