Netware 5.1 server hangs when being backed up.

I have backupexec version 9 running on a netware 4.11 server and 2 netware 5.1 remote agents. One of these remote agents backs up perfectly, the other 'hangs' after about a gig of the 80 gig volume has been backed up. The server then needs to be restarted. I know Backupexec 9.0 has not been implictied tested on 4.11 but it does a good job of one 5.1 server but not the other.

I have a similar issue. I am running NW5.1 SP5 also the latest build of BackupExec 9.0.. since moving to 9.0 I have had nothing but problems. I get Media errors and sometimes when trying to unload BackExec by typing BESTOP the server hangs and does not allow users to sign in. It will hang for several hours but will bounce back later. I have worked with veritas and they sent me the latest build and told me to go to NW51 SP5..since doing that, it has taken care of the abends but still has not solved the other issues.

I am ready to go back to 8.0 and call it a day.

Any info you have would be great.

Sounds like a server abend. Where is it abending? Check the abend.log in sys:system

If you use the open file option try changing the backup policy so the open file option is not used. I have done this and the backup now runs without abending or hanging the server.
Next step is to play with the open file option settings and see if it can be made to work with the open file option.
