I am trying to do a server replacement on a Netware 5.0 server. Due to the legacy software that connects we cannot upgrade to newer version of Netware.

I would like to use the Novell Upgrade Wizard to transfer data and NDS.

I need an earlier version of the upgrade wizard but cannot find it.

Version 6.5 is the earliest version available on the Novell website... this does not support earlier than Netware 5.1.
Version 2.2 ships on my Netware 5.0 CD, but only supports upgrading Netware 3 or 4 to Netware 5.0.

I am hoping that there is a version 3, 4 or 5 out there somewhere that will do a Netware 5.0 to 5.0 transfer. I cannot find this on Novell's website. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Thanks!

i think you need to do a dsmaint method
there is tid's on this - is more or less migration wizard without the wizard bit

I hear this a lot -- can't upgrade due to software running that can't use upgraded versions..

I don't believe it, and usually take it on as a challenge to prove them wrong. I've had luck with apps that are still in use but 10-15 years old and 'require' netware 3.12.

wdk1111, what reasons do you say this can't be done?

Marvin is right, of course. I am really curious as to what software you are referring to, wdk. Can you tell us?

I have looked at the DSMAINT method (the preferred method, accoding to Novell), and this might work for us, but my tech lead says that they previously transferred their 5.0 server to another 5.0 server using a migration wizard. We just can't find the version that they used.

The software that prevents us from upgrading is a custom written application that runs on DOS workstations and is even hardcoded to use a certain NIC / Interrupt / Memory location. Netware 5.1 might be OK but we would rather use what we have if possible.

DOS apps should have no problem running on newer NetWare.. Even NetWare 6.5. Only problems I've seen is that some of them don't like NSS volumes..which can easily be remedied by using a traditional volume dedicated to the app.

If I recall correctly, the Netware 5.0 cd had a migration wizard on it, right at the root of the disc.
