Netware 411 & Ultrium tape drives

Novell Netware 411 at service pack 8 on Compaq ML370
on connection of a HP Ultrium-1 215 external drive
driver cpqscsi.ham reports ultrium is not SCSI 2 compliant
then tries to load it as an aspi device then errors out.
POST does recognise the ultrium.
HP state the device is SCSI 2 and will work on Novell without any special drivers ??.
has anyone hit this problem before me if so how did you get round it.

What controller is teh external drive connected to. Is it an additional card or built in? If the device is not seen on post for the scsi controller then you need to sort that first. Check the controller card settings, termination etc etc etc Lee Smith
