I have 2 Netware 4.11 LANs running IPX/SPX at seperate locations. The workstations (95-98) also have TCP/IP and access the Internet through a DSL line. I created a lan-to-lan VPN for the workstaions using a firewall application. It works fine for the workstations.

How do I get the server on the Internet? The boss wants to do it on the cheap, so BorderManager is out.

Thanks.

Best solution here would be to install a second nic into the server, connect that nic to the DMZ or public side of the network. What I Would do from there is lock down as many of the IP ports as you can and maybe even look into setting static routes and whats allowed vs. whats not allowed:

If you have a firewall, then hang the second nic off of a port on there, if you have just a router, then hang it off a port on there. You can secure it by implementing some level of IP security by locking things down.

Maybe you can make use of IPTUNNEL
If yo already have a VPN running between the two sites and need the Novell servers to talk to each other, this creates a network between the two servers over IP. This doesn't let the servers see the internet, just the other IPX device at the far end of the VPN
