Does anyone know if there is a Netware 3.12 Monitor that can be run from a Windows 2000 or XP workstation? We have a Netware 3.12 file server for our ancient MS-DOS based applications, and it would be nice not to have to go over to it every time I need to view connection information.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi, Andy

NW 3.12 has the RCONSOLE capability. This enables any workstation to access the server's screen and control the server remotely.

For this to work, the REMOTE.NLM module must be loaded on the server. Also the RSPX communications protocol.

Check the autoexec.ncf on the server to see if it has the following 2 lines:

load rspx
load remote <passwrd>

If so, then from a workstation open a dos box and with a search path to the sys:public directory, type the command RCONSOLE. You will be asked for a password, and the password is the <passwrd> from the load remote command.

If not currently loaded, you can type those commands manually at the console prompt at the server to test the feature and see if it give you what you need.

There is also a utility called ZedMon, which I believe you can download from Novell's Cool Tools section, that has multiple capabilities. The great part is, it's free.
