Dear All,

This is a strange problem. We have netware 6.5 sp5 on the VO server and
have other servers which are on Netware 6. Some of the users who are on
one server can't see any files under their shared drive mapping which is
mapped to H. They get the Home directory but not the Shared.

The login script is the same for all users and looks like -
IF <WEBACCESS>="1" THEN BEGIN
MAP ROOT G:=%HOME_DIRECTORY
MAP ROOT H:=%MESSAGE_SERVER\DATA:SHARE.

On one server the it looks like Netstorage doesn't recognise %
MESSAGE_SERVER variable. I tried to put this in the user's personal login
script and it ignored it. When I changed it to ip address, it worked.
Unfortunately, we can't change it to IP in the Main countainer login
script as we have got 8 different servers. I don't really want to put
things in the personal login scripts as it is difficult to maintain etc.

Does anyone know another variable I can try instead of %MESSAGE_SERVER. I
tried %FILE_SERVER but still no luck.

Many Thanks for any help.

You should look at this TID first and see if it helps..

I don't believe that your %MEssage_Server is a valid variable. I bet you're using that in your normal login script to set the DOS environment.. but I'm not sure it has the same impact in the NetStorage script. How are you defining %Message_Server? Is it somewhere else in your script?

Hi Marvin,

Thanks for the reply. I did read that TID and it doesn't have the %MESSAGE_SERVER. This is a standard variable that give the default server. It picks it from the environment variable.

We have used it in the normal loginscript. The strange thing is we have about 8 different servers that hold data and it works fine on some servers. They are all the same spec, same OS (Netware 6sp5).

I have logged a call with Novell Support yesterday, waiting for them to respond.

Thanks - Varuni
