Hi
Using netstat -i, I can check the Ethernet interface Tx and Rx errors/drops etc. Is there a way to clear the counters for this command to start from zero?

i.e. clear counters in Cisco etc

Regards

Mark

I'm afraid not.

You might consider trying netstat -i -c to get incremental updates with 1 second intervals. Unfortunately the behaviour of this command seems to be inconsistent across Linux distributions (even with the same version of netstat). Sometimes it reports the differences between updates, sometimes it just reports the current counters, and sometimes it accepts an additional "delay" option between updates, sometimes not.

netstat reports data found in /prov/dev/net in a user sort of friendly format. This data is re-initialized once the machine is rebooted.
