I have a Netscreen 5XP which has a Win2K Server and a router attached via a switch. There is massive packet loss both to the server and the router. If I disconnect the server packet loss to the router stops completely but not the other way around. There seems to be a conflict between the server and the Netscreen although they both work fine with other equipment. I have connected the server to another switch with no problems. Disconnecting then reconnecting the cable to the server also seems to stop this packet loss but only for a while.

Any ideas anyone????

Hello,

I have had some trouble with some older Cisco Routers connecting to non-Cisco switches. What type of equipment are we talking about.

Normally, I run into issues with Auto-Negotiation and can be easily resolved with setting the interfaces and both the switch and router manually.

All the Netscreen's I have configured have had no problems with negotiation, so I would think it could be related to either the Switch, Router or Win2K box.

Hope you find this helpful.

Rgds,

John Judge
