Netscape Upgrade Problem

I have been using Netscape 4.75 on a winNT system for a long time (as in years). Lately, I am getting messages from sites like hotbot.com search engine that I do not have a current version of the browser and cannot utilize all of their features. The Macromedia forum won't log me in. Their customer support told me to upgrade the browser. OK, I give up! I will upgrade my browser.

Tried to install Netscape 6.22. The installation completes successfully. When I try to use the browser, the computer hangs and must be powered down to regain control. I uninstalled version 6.22 and downloaded Netscape 7.02. The same results -- it hangs my computer.

Any suggestions out there, guys and girls?

My Computer Specs:
Gateway GP6-450 with 256MB of RAM
Windows NT 4.0 Operating System with SP6 installed

does it ask you wether you want to make it your default browser ? if so, answer no, that bug is currently being investigated

Yes, it asked if I want to make Netscape my default browser.
No, I did not make Netscape my default browser.
