Netscape stopped working on XP

Netscape 7.1 screen displays and stops, takes 50% CPU.
Uninstalled and reinstalled, installed 7.2 that would give an error before even running the install program, 'Lost connection to internet...'. Still connected.
Removed all Netscape versions and removed netsc items from the registry.
Ran HouseCall antivirus, and corrected any virus problems. Reinstalled 7.1, same thing hangs after intro screen displays.
Any suggestions. Did several recovers to prior dates, no change.

Tried all in the FAQ779 above and Netscape still is dead. IE works fine but I prefer Netscape, tried to inport my Netscape mail into IE but could not find a way. I would change to Output if I can recover all my old mail from the NS file format, (inbox).
Any suggestions on possible other Browsers that I can capture the NS mail.

Dialup, cable or DSL?

Dialup, connects at 50 to 56.
Again IE works fine.
