Why is it that Netscape Navigator requires the
attribute applied after every image in order for it to align properly? Say if you have a table data cell
that has a height of 1 and you have an image inside of it which has a height of 1, withough the
tagged on after it the
will appear to have a height of 5. Why can't netscape be more like Internet Explorer? There are lots of weird things about Netscape though, like the way it interprets CSS. Over all, I would have to say that Netscape is an inferior browser compared to other browsers on the market.

I would say Netscape is the second best browser on the market. That tells you alot about the browser market, doesn't it? MSIE is just too awesome, I guess, at least Netscape comes close to MSIE. Opera is the third best, and it really sucks. Then you have some really fun browsers like MOSAIC or LYNX. However, if you havbe a halfway decent editor (or a real decent editor like FrontPage 2000) you can usually come up with something HALFWAY decent that will be cross browser semi- compatible. For instance the site I am (almost finished) working on for Tri Tech Laboratories ( is compatible with IE5.0 and below (to 3.2 I think) and Netscape 4.6+ and Opera 3.60 and WebTV. It looks REAL NICE in IE5, the rest of the browsers, it looks okay in, just not as nice. It take alot of work to make your site look presentable AND downloads fast (eq. minumum graphics) AND is cross browser compatible. It isn't easy being a web designer, is it?
Opera is actualy a good browser to test pages with because it is so unforgiving. If a page passes the test with Opera, then it is likely to be cross browser compatible, but not to say cross system cmpatible because it only runs on windows. For the Mac there is a similar browser which has flourished ever since it hit the market about a year ago, it is a German browser known as iCab. The only problem with this browser is that it does not support JavaScript yet, but it supports CSS really well; so I guess there's a toos up between browsers on the market; if they combined them all in to one we would have the perfect browser.
