I love Netscape, I've used it since the mid 90's. Now I use Netscape 4.78 and it seems each time Netscape moves to the next version the old version gets quirky. Almost each time I browse on the web it gets hung up (not responding) and I can't get it to work at all. If I use the Cntrl+Alt+Delete command, I can see that Netscape Navigator is not responding.
Why does this happen? Is my theory correct? What can I do to fix this problem.
I really don't want Netscape 6.1, I paid to have the disk shipped to me. The disk was free, but not the shipping cost. What a rip off, the CD loaded a slow moving snail of
a program. Yes you can download the Mega program if you have DSL, T1 or some other lightening speed connection. The program is still a MB Hog. Can anyone give me tips on how to keep 4.78 alive and well.
My other theory is the X-File merge of Aol and Netscape. Aol loves MSN I.E. and I.E. 5.5 can visit the same Web Site without any problems.
Background on my Equipment:
I use a Toshiba Laptop 2545 with a 5.3 GB HD, 96 MB Ram, AMD K6-2 333 MHZ Proc with MMX Technology. It's not the latest and not the greatest, but it should handle the small stuff.
Any and all help is appreciated
