Netscape 4.7.3 does not start

Hello AIXperts,

I installed Netscape 4.7.3 from the AIX 4.3.3 bonus pack. When I try to start it following message appears:

netscape
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program
/usr/netscape/communicator/us/netscape_aix4 because of the following errors:

0509-130 Symbol resolution failed for /usr/lib/libpthreads.a(shr.o) because:
0509-136 Symbol thread_unlock (number 123) is not exported from
dependent module /usr/netscape/communicator/lib433/libc_r.a(shr.o).
0509-136 Symbol thread_waitlock (number 124) is not exported from
dependent module /usr/netscape/communicator/lib433/libc_r.a(shr.o).
0509-192 Examine .loader section symbols with the
'dump -Tv' command.

I running AIX 4.3.3 ML09 on an 44P-170.

I suspect mismatched versions, your lib does not match the compiled Netscape. Perhaps you can find a newer version of Netscape? IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation

Hello Yegolev,

I downloaded the newest Version of Netscape (4.51) for AIX4 from the homepage and started nestcape. I got more or less the same error messages. Afterwards I saw in the netscape directory that there is a netscape_aix4 program and tried this and a miracle occured, it worked !
As a hint for AIX4 users, do not belive everything what's written in header pages.
