When Installing the QGE in a netra 440 the the two motherboard ce interfaces become instance ids ce0 and ce5 respectively. Ideally, I would like this to be consistent with the system that do not have the QGE installed.

I beleive the results were caused because I installed the card prior to installing the O/S, Solaris 9. How can I correct this issue?

Any thoughts?

loschiavoj;

Can you run more /etc/path_to_inst | grep ce and post the output?

Basically what I am looking for is to see if you have;

ce0
ce1
ce2
ce3
ce4
ce5

If I am thinking correct the QGE has taken ce1 thru ce4. The paths to these devices would help determine this.

What you can do is first copy path_to_inst path_to_inst.orig for safety.

Then vi path_to_inst and remove the entries for ce1 thru ce5. Then you could try running devfsadm and see if path_to_inst is updated. If not reboot -- -r or touch /reconfigure and init 6. It should then build the devices as you want them.

Thanks
