We support a building with 71 customers and each of those customers has their own Netopia 9100 router assigned to them with a static public IP. The router uses NAT and assigns all workstations private IPs. some of these customers use a file server located in the building and did not have any issues until we decided to upgrade the server from 2k to 2k3. Now when one user behind one Netopia connects they are fine until another user behind the same Netopia connects to the file server. the original users is bumped off the server and receives errors to the effect of:
The network resource is already in use or unavailable.
Sometimes the window will just disappear and sometimes their machine will freeze if they have a word document or something opened.
Network topology:
Workstation ---> switch in office ---> Netopia router ---->
switch ---> file server.
This is a very old set up and we do not have the budget to replace all the netopias with switches just yet but i need a solution to fix this issue.
We have remove all built in filters on netopia (NetBIOS and basic firewall). What else could be the issue? Anything with 2k3? All shares are set to allow the max connections and do not have a limit set.
I know this is a tough one escpecially to discribe but any help would be great.
