I already have a VPN using 3 netopia 4541s, very good for this but the firewall /logging etc is not so good.
I accepted the gift of some new FVS318s in order to have a firewall and either improve the VPN or use VPN passthrough,
However when I connect the FVS318 to the netopia adsl router, it does not show up as an ethernet connection and I cannot get through to the internet.
I have followed the set up to the letter, I have tried different cables and different boxes, the ethernet port on the netopia works if it is connected to from the uplink port on a switch for example and the internet port on the Netgear registers a connection if I plug a cable in from a router or switch, so I don't think the ports are broken.
Could it be the way the netopia router is configured, do I need to turn off its NAT capability for example or might they just be incompatible.
Oh yes and why (in the UK) unless I am mistaken don't netgear have telephone support...??
I'll say heeelp at this point, but can supply more information if needed.
