Netopia 3347NWG to Netopia 3347NWG IP Phones NO Voice

We have a Netopia 3347NWG in front of our BCM50. We have consistantly taken our VoIP phone to remote sites, plugged it in and have service and full operations of the remote IP station just as you would expect however, EVERY time we plug in an IP phone ata location with the same a Netopia 3347NWG - although the phone will sync with our BCM50 - we have no voice - dial tone functions. We can dial a number and hear dtmf - but no voice communications. What are we missing? Help someone.

Netopia on 2nd gateway (remote) QOS is set to expedite and same on primary gateway (BMC side. IP phone is NOT passing QOS at all. Set to partial DHCP with config and VLAN settings to zero (0).

Hey MagnaRGP; are the settings in the IP phone we should adjust for QOS? versus router settings? I appreciate your help very much!

The IP phones will tag all outbound VoIP packets using DiffServ (DSCP 42 and 46). You cannot turn that off. That has no bearing on whether you pass voice traffic or not.

We have determined the issue to be the netopia routers. If the phones are in a remote location using ANY router but Netopia, voice passes and the quality is excellent. The only variable is Netopia to Netopia. Tested at the current remote by swapping that netopia with a actiontec and voice is working great. Will continue to test using the netopia to netopia to determine work around. Thanks for the info exchange.

You may be running into issues with NAT. Nortel IP Phones will only work with a Cone NAT. A Cone NAT router with more than one IP Phone connected to it must also support hairpinning.
