Does anyone have any idea why NetMeeting is no longer available for download from Microsoft? They have the link, but it just goes to a page advising not currently available. We noticed this a couple of weeks ago. It seems to be available at tucows.com, in case anyone is looking for a source in the meantime.
Regards,
Mary

The executable is native since Win2k. Even XP includes it by default.

What version/OS release are you missing? The Net Meeting package has been superceded by other products.

IF you go to start-run and type "conf" "without the apostrophies" you can see if its already integrated into your OS. If it is a set up window should appear.
Failing that let us know more by answering bcastners questions.

hmmm.... part of my reply above was truncated.... what it was SUPPOSED to say, is that we have to have our Win98 customers download NetMeeting, which is why the quandary when it went missing.

Thank-you's to bcastner & kippy!

Could you expand on that a little? I saw a link to Office live or something like that, but couldn't find a download for it. What other products are out there now?

I was not trying to be mysterious. MS would prefer you move to their Messenger client(s), or Remote Desktop, and using Net Meeting is essentially a dead end, as is Net Chat. Both of these original utilities are fairly well done, but the move is to Messenger and RD.

Messenger seemed for a while an orphan product, but the Longhorne things I have been running suggest it has "legs", and will be improved.

That was the point I tried to make above. Net Meeting is a dead end product for future OS plans.

Ok, cool. I still haven't gotten remote desktop to work on my home computers yet. Still trying...Netmeeting of course, works fine. I've looked at various threads around the forum and followed all the suggestions too!

If you are having problems with remote desktop it may be worth starting a new thread with the exact specs and configs of the machines in question.

I think the problem has to do with the way the machines were imaged. I've seen where imaging causes a problem with the security validation for some reason. I'm still working on it, but it isn't a priority right now. I'll post when I run out of ideas. :)

I suspect many do this.
I honestly do not think this note above was your intention. You have excellent ideas and your posts here have been impressive.

I just did not want you to start a new trend in the Forum.
