Hi,

This environment has one Windows 2000 server sp3. In the event log event id 3096 "The windows NT domain controller for this domain could not be located". This is followed immediately by event id 5719 "No windows NT or windows 2000 domain controller is available for domain, the following error occurred: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request."

Users have been experiencing delays when accessing files on the server too. Not sure if its related but I'm assuming at this point it is. When the open a file on the server such as a word doc and attempt to edit it will hang for several seconds before they can do anything. Also apps that run from the server will become unavailable and stop responding.

I'm not sure what was changed or transpired to prompt these errors in the event log. Restarting the netlogon service spits those two errors back right away also.

I'm afraid my knowledge level isn't up to figuring this out myself. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry I mistated...its sp4 not sp3.

Also as far as I can tell those are the only errors in the event logs.

For some reason the following day now only event if 5719 is appearing in the event log. It's occurring every two hours.
