My HP server has several netisr process which have been running since the system booted. They are started by process ID 0. What is their purpose? This could stand for NETWORK INTERFACE something somethin., but what? Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi

I didn't know the anser to your question, but I retrieved the following off HP's site whilst I was there for you..

Netisr calls the input routine for each network protocol which has packets in its input queue. The time accrued is the time spent handling these packets. The number of netisr processes spawned depends on the number of processors in the system and the operating system version.
