Netgear Wireless RIP

I have a buddy that has 2 Netgear wireless routers in his house. He has his internet connection coming into one of them. He needs to be able to connect the 2 routers wirelessly. We thought RIP would be the way to go, but I am not sure if RIP will work across wireless. Does anyone know if it will or how to do it?

If they are both going to be on the same network, I think you can just set their SSIDs to the same thing. The other router then essentially works as a repeater.
