I have a home network of 3 computers - 2 desktops (running XP and Win 2k) and 1 laptop (runnig Win 2k). I have a Netgear RT314 router which works great and all my (wired) machines enjoy connectivity. Recently, I purchased a Netgear Wireless Bridge (WGE101) and a Wireless card (WG511T) for my laptop. I connected the wireless bridge to one of the router's ports and installed the PCMCIA card into the laptop. I set the bridge for DHCP and made sure that it received an IP address. My problem is that I don't seem to establish any wireless connection with my laptop (it is getting 127.0.0.1) and scanning for a network brings nothing. What am I doing wrong? How can I troubleshoot this thing?

Any siggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you

You bought the wrong product, return it to the store. You want either a router or access point.

As often the router product is less expensive than the access point product, purchase the wireless router.

You connect it to your existing router by disabling DHCP, ignoring the WAN interface, and using a regular drop cable between the uplink LAN port of one router, to a regular LAN port of the other.

A nicely done tutorial:
When you set your notebook wireless properties, be sure you choose "Infrastructure" and not Ad Hoc mode. As your notebook is using Win2k, follow closely the Netgear instructions on installing the adapter. If they suggest installing the software first, rebooting, then installing the adapter, believe them.

I agree just go out and buy a wireless router/switch . I just recently installed a Netgear MR814V2 and it works great .After rebates the router was like $25 . Haven't seen the rebates yet but still it wasn't very expensive .
