WinXP Pro with SP2, laptops Thinkpad T23 and Gateway 9150
wireless has gone down on both laptops, able to connect to router and obtain an IPaddress but unable to ping the router address of 192.168.0.1
The T23 has an onboard ethernet(intel)port from which I was connected via wires.
Found that the wireless would not work no matter what updates fixes were installed not installed, whether or not the service wireless authorisation was enabled or not.
Tried installing/uninstalling updating drivers for netgear PCMCIA card WG511T. Clean install on Gateway 9150 did not work either. Did some stupid things on the way down, forgetting to re add the T23 to the access list to the router, but hey one learns from ones mistakes !!
The gateway miraculously started working after a restart but was still having problems with the T23, was watching Captain Crunch and Woz interview, thought a little further beyond my nose and realised that the ethernet card connection might be interfereing. Disabled the card in device manager and hey presto , wirless world comes to life.
I hope this mediocre effort helps someone out there in the eWorld
Regards
