I have a question about a wireless router I bought a Netgear WGR614 router, I already have a wireless network at home and want to make this router act like a bridge. I know the router works because I connected it as my main router, I tried to change the IP address in its internal setting but when I tried to update it , it didn’t response and I couldn't get into the new address I set for it. So i have to reset it after that.
Do any of you know of any third party/hacker firmware out there that I can install on the router so I could use it as a bridge and if need be switch back as a router?

I don't have any experience with Netgear equipment - but other brands let you turn off dhcp and set the wireless part to a bridge mode. It's all done through the web interface.

AshStampede,

Have you physically connected the two routers together using
a CAT5?

mainegeek,
ah no i havn't connected them directly together. What will that accomplish when i do try it?

dakota81,
the web interface for this netgear does have the option to turn off dchp. But it does not have the ability in the web interface to change it to bridge mode.
