Hey Guys,

I am trying to promote a win2k3 server 32 bit server to the primary DC, but when I run netdiag I get the following errors...

[Fatal] Cannot open the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\netlogon.dns for reading.
[FATAL] No DNS servers have the DNS records fo this DC registered.
It also failes the Redir and Browser test

DNS is AD integrated. All of my records are registered and there are no problems that I know of and I have googled my fingers blue. These errors make no sense to me right now and I am starting to get frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

have u tried dcdiag /test:dns. what errors does it give you. are u logged in with admin rights? run netsh diag gui? lemme know ur results.

also try ipconfig /flushdns
then ipconfig /registerdns

Are you able to open dnsmgmt.msc and view your zones? What OS are you running, and what service pack?

Can you provide the results of the following commands:

netdiag /v
dcdiag /v
