I have a brand new Acer netbook. The network connects and can reach local printers and servers but the webpages are not coming up. So thinikng about it i input the IP for yahoo and the page loaded fine. I know there are no issues with the local DNS, i also even added 4.2.2.2 to rule that out. I restarted the DNS client in the services. I flushed the DNS and made sure it had no proxies set. Any ideas?

What is 4.2.2.2? Is that your local DNS server?
Have you checked the event logs on your local DNS server to see if there's any information in there to help you?

Good luck,

I assume DHCP? Is the DNS server configured from DHCP?
Then check to see (using nslookup) that you can talk to the configured DNS server? Check to see if your netmask is correct.

4.2.2.2 I believe is a public dns server like 4.2.2.1. When you say the pages aren't loading, what are you getting. Can't be found? You say it's brand new. Is it just from the factory, or did you get it second hand. Have you checked to see if there is an entry in the hosts file that could be blocking things? Just a thought.

4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 are gtei servers, perhaps Verizon? I see, you used those servers to test. They seem to allow querying.

I would still use nslookup to query your local server.
