Netbios with DNS.

Hi,
I have a AD with W2k3 and DNS integrated.
I want resolve a name Netbios with my DNS and I don't want up a sevice WINS.
If I add a register "A" in my dns, it appends the name of my domain/zone to my host Netbios and I don't want it!

How can I resolve a name Netbios qith my DNS integrated in AD?

One way i guess would be to add lmhosts files to the local machines. Any reason the names cannot be registered in DNS?
