Ok, Ive been having problems with sendmail and network telnet logins for about a month. I finally traced the telnet problem to BTI telcoms DNS servers being flaky. Changed to a local server and that fixed that.
But when I boot the system, it runs fine until it starts the netbios. It will say "Starting Netbios: nbd" and hang for several minutes. I've had different error messages. One, "/dev/ttya01 another process waiting to start" , also "S89hostmib failed to complete in 120 seconds". The system eventually boots, but I cant send outgoing mail because of the error "The messgae could not be sent because it rejected yu as sender. Server response :"451 NIS map mail.aliases specified but NIS not running". Inbound seems to work fine on polling the server with a pc using outlook express.
Ive checked the /etc/hosts setup and its fine. It seems everytime I fix something, something else breaks though. Any ideas?
