Under what conditions would one want Netbeui running on his or her workstation/servers? I have multiple NT 4.0 and 2003 servers, and a mixture of 2000 and 98 clients. The majority of them are 2000 though. I'm trying to minimize traffic on my network and I know that NETBEUI does a whole lot of broadcasting.
 
Conditions:

. Legacy compatability. Some applications depend on Netbui, although they are rare.
. Need for a non-routable transport.
. Netbui in small LANs (<20) is small, fast and efficient. Larger LANs suffer from the broadcast talkiness of the protocol.
. Sometimes used in mixed-OS LANs to resolve seemingly intractible Netbios over TCP/IP Netbios naming issues.
