We are writing a script to do our daily offsite and I would like to use the Vault Date and Vault Return fields in the vmquery to store information. Would this possibly cause a problem if we moved to NetBackup Vault at a later date? Or would the information be used by Vault?

vault name: VAULT
vault sent date: Wed Jun 02 13:22:30 2004
vault return date: Fri Sep 03 00:00:00 2004
vault slot: ---
vault session id: 406021322

I use the session id for the date and time that it was processed and then set the return date for the day that it expires....

Thanks,
John Block

Vault will not care what you have written already if it is not installed and licensed today. You will have to keep track of anything prior to using Vault.

Part of what I am asking is when/if we install and license Vault, will it use the values in the fields or will it over-write everything? I don't see how Veritas could defend it over-writing existing values when it gets installed.
