Hi, Everyone:

I had a Netbackup server installed on Windows NT 4.0 and five clients on UNIX (AIX 4.3). It works fine for long times.
Now, I changed the Server's IP address (The NT Box), and suddently the Netbackup server can not find clients any more.
I did some investigation. I had changed the /etc/hosts file on the client side (UNIX box) for the NetBackup Server and reboot both clients and server.
I even PING the clients from NetBackup server and it works fine. But the Backup still fail and I go to the NetBackup Configuration module and try to update clients properity and it just hang and pop out Warning message about client don't respond. By the way, my Veritas is version 3.2GA. Could some expert help me out ?
Thanks,

Ke

Don't forget DNS in NT. You have to have a 100% verifiable DNS configuration otherwise issues like this will arise. If you have changed your DNS tables and everything thre is okay, on NT flush the DNS cache. ipconfig /flushdns

To ensure that your DNS is working correctly, run ipconfig client and make sure it can resolve the name and ip address. I would also repeat this for each client on the master and then run it on the clients against the master. many an IP change has caused problems because DNS is not setup properly.

Remember there are 3 things that NetBackup can tell you:

1. DNS problems
2. Network problems (congestion)
3. Client is down
