I have the opportunity to implement a new NetBackup environment from scratch, and want to confirm the NetBackup directories that should reside on an external storage should I ever need to recover from a server melt down with a different server (same architecture, ie. Sun 220R to E450). I believe the directories are as follows:

/opt/openv/netbackup/db
/opt/openv/volmgr/database

also of course I should specifically backup the following:

/opt/openv/netbackup/bp.conf
/opt/openv/netbackup/vm.conf

What I'm basically asking is for the ability to quickly recover NetBackup if I ever need to install a new, but different server. Of course I would install and patch NetBackup from CD. Thanks.

Make sure the hostname is the same or you will have to jump through hoops to get NBU to restore the data in the recovered DB. Also, the path to the conf files are as follows:
/usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf
/usr/openv/volmgr/vm.conf

and the database is:

/usr/openv/netbackup/db
/usr/openv/volmgr/database
/usr/openv/netbackup/var

Thanks, I forgot the .conf. How come I don't currently have a /opt/openv/netbackup/var directory? Is that new in 5.0?
