Netbackup corrupting filestore ??!!

Since we have applied MP6 to our Netbackup 4.5 Datacentre installation, the backup jobs on the primary file server have failed, and reported that the filestore is corrupt (ntfs error 55 in event logs). Each time, we can fix with chkdsk but whenever netbackup goes near the partition, it happens again. An alternate backup using ntbackup.exe gives no such problem. Is it likely that netbackup can apparently upgrade OK, and run, and yet actively damage the filestore. We have tried with OTM & VSP on and off, but that has apparently not made a difference. Because it is live and large, I can't recreate the problem on demand due to the risk of damaing the filestore again. Any ideas !?
