I am working at a small firm with Veritas Netbackup 7.0 running under Windows.

Previous administrator had setup all netbackup policies to backup data to disk storage. With disaster recovery requirement, I setup an addition media server with LTO4 tape library.

Netbackup 7.0 environment running under Windows:
Server: Backup01 is master server and media server with DSU attached.
Server: Backup02 is new media server with LTO4 tape library attached as backup02-hcart-robot-tld-0.

A backup policy if backup to disk-storage-unit, if can run successfully. If I change the same policy to backup to LTO4 media, it failed error 159 – netbackup license or error 59 – access to the client was not allowed.

How do I change policy backup to tape media?

More Info:

The same policy to DSU, it backup successfully.
For most clients just can't recognize the LTO4 tape library is attached to new media server - backup02

Is any way to verify that I have tape library configured correctly in Netbackup ?

Firewall ports opened?

bp.conf or system registry file correct? Master and media servers are listed?

Thank you for your help first.

I don't think firewall ports are related to issue I have - The same policy can run backup to disk storage unit without issue.

Under Netbackup administration console's Host Properties
Master Servers - backup01
Media servers -
backup01 (for DSU)
backup02 (for tape library)

But what's each client host properties for servers
Should it be

Master Servers - backup01
Media servers - backup01 and backup02 ???

I just found out that I have inconsistent values for client host's servers properties.

Issued resolved by adding "Remote Client option" license key to backup02.

Thanks for help.
