We are running NB 6.5 on a Windows 2003 Standard server and the backups are running at 10-20MB/s. The LTO4 drives are rated at 136MB/s, so I assume I should be getting 80-90MB/s or so.

I was just wondering what speeds other people are getting with NB 6.5 and LTO4.

(for those who are curious, all our drivers and firmware are the newest versions and the test I'm doing is on the backup server itself, so the slowdown isn't due to network speed)

Have you tested the performance of the disks you are trying to back up? Also, what is the quantity, size and general make up of the data that you are trying to backup? Most likely you will find the bottle neck is your data or the disk and not the tape drive.

A test on the disks themselves ran very fast (120MB/s). But the test didn't use Netbackup, so that is why I was curious what speeds other people were getting with Netbackup.

We changed the buffer size and are now getting faster backups. Oddly enough, the speeds vary a lot. The backup can run one night (at night there should be little or no network traffic) at 25MB/s and the next night at 50MB/s. No idea why.
