The NetBackup 6.0 media kit will now ship with the NetBackup 6.0 Maintenance Pack 4 installation on CD

Details:

The NetBackup Media kit will now ship with NetBackup 6.0 Maintenance Pack 4 (MP4) on the installation CD's as the base installation. This change will take effect for any NetBackup media kits ordered on or after February 28th, 2007. For Chinese and Japanese media kits, this change took effect on February 22nd, 2007. It is not necessary to request a replacement for any existing NetBackup 6.0 media kits. The only change to the media kit is that the NetBackup 6.0 GA CD's are being replaced with NetBackup 6.0 MP4 CD's.

The NetBackup 6.0 Maintenance Pack 4 release contains fixes to assist with upgrades and addresses issues found since the initial NetBackup 6.0 GA release. Including NetBackup 6.0 MP4 as the default installation allows customers to upgrade to the latest NetBackup version in one step.

The NetBackup 6.0 Maintenance Pack 4 release can be download directly from the Symantec FileConnect Web site. A valid product serial number is required in order to verify entitlement. To access the Symantec FileConnect Web site, go to:
As future (Post 6.0 MP4) NetBackup 6.0 maintenance packs are released, it will still be necessary to apply those updates as per normal processes. All future maintenance pack readme's will contain the caveats and steps needed for a successful upgrade.

NetBackup 6.0 maintenance packs are available for download from the Symantec Support Web site at the following link:

cheers for that one Bob, i've been tasked with collating info to upgrade from 5.1 (MP5 if i recall correctly) to 6.0, so i've got the easy bit ie i can see we'll be going to MP4, just trawling the forums for the difficult bits now :)

Been out of the NetBackup loop for quite some months now so am hoping lots of good people have upgraded in that time, and shared their experiences on the forums

Regards
Richard

Rich,
I missed you. Welcome back.
I've had some difficulty learning 6.x There were more changes than meets the eye. I suggest getting a web cast class or reading the manuals. Good luck, my friend.
Bob
