Hi there,

What licenses do I need when adding a 2 node UNIX cluster with SAN attached storage to an existing separate MS server Netbackup 4.5 Data Centre system? I want to manage the backup centrally en run the backups locally via the SAN to a 2 drive library. The (MS server) Master/ Media server and the UNIX systems are connected via LAN.

Oh by the way, are there any catches when implementing this!

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Rene

From what I remember you will need a licens per server (and the right tier)
Then you will need a media server licens (since the server will be a media server to be able to write directly to the drives) and a SSO licens per tapedrive.
But their is no special licens for the attached storage on the diskside.

Johnny99 has it just about right.

You can get SAN media server licenses, which are a little cheaper and can only backup theirselves over to the SAN Attached Tape. If you are going to install any type of Media server license, SAN or standard Media Server, you don't need to purchase a client license.

SSO is ONLY used if the tape library is SAN attached. If you actually have the tape drives attached directly to the UNIX servers via SCSI, SSO is not needed.
