Long story short I was running out of space on my network which is windows 2008 / redhat mix.
I installed a Netapp and robocopied my share folder data to it from the windows server.
There are now some anomalies which I will try my best to explain.
on my windows server the source (server) folder file counts are correct. 12 file = 12 files etc.
on my linux server the source and destination mismatches. 12 files = 12 files but the file count is 13.
it's like that on almost all folders. It'll show 12 files but say it's 13 on another folder it's 24 files and shows 24 files but says 27.
Any suggestions as to why the folder file counts are acting up?
