Over the next week or so I'll be evulating the NetApp iSCSI platform for use in our data center. I was wondering what experiances other people have had with the system.

We are looking at it to replace our direct attached storage for our SQL Servers, and possibly other night load storage servers.

Any thing you can give me good or bad will be helpfull.

The first thing that comes to mind is that you should run SQL on an Appliance. A NetApp Filer is just a networked fileserver for central storage.

The NetApp filer is able to serve out BLOCK level storage via iSCSI, in this case the Appiance becomes more that a network fileserver.

I have found the NetApps to be extremely reliable units - however I haven't had that much experience with the iSCSI option.
